What is cardiovascular surgery?

Cardiovascular surgery includes operations involving the heart and blood vessels including arteries and veins. Specially trained surgeons operate on the cardiovascular system using techniques to safely access and treat the surrounding organs and tissue. What is thoracic surgery?

Thoracic surgery, also known as chest surgery includes the organs, structures and tissue that form and support the chest cavity. These organs can include the; heart, lungs, rib cage, breastbone as well as the esophagus and trachea. A specially trained doctor called a thoracic surgeon will perform the surgeries and procedures to treat and manage diseases and injuries to these organs.
