Deepak Malhotra, MD, is a board certified cardiothoracic surgeon who specializes in all aspects of surgical management of the heart, lungs and vascular system. He has a particular interest in surgery for complex aortic disease.

Dr. Malhotra was born in Texas and traveled around the U.S. and world growing up, including time in the Panama Canal Zone. He graduated from high school in Rockville, MD and continued on to the University of Maryland, College Park to complete his Bachelor's and Master's degree. Upon completion of his graduate degree, Dr. Malhotra continued his higher education at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He graduated with his M.D. in 2005 and began his general surgery training at Rutgers University (RWJUH) in New Brunswick, NJ. It is during his General Surgery training that he became interested in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery. As part of his training in general surgery, he also completed a comprehensive research fellowship in cardiac surgery and heart failure at UCSF/VAMC.

His final stop in formal training was a cardiac and thoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Southern California/LAC, where he had the distinct pleasure of being trained in cardiac surgery by Dr. Vaughn Starnes. Under the fine tutelage of Dr. Starnes and other distinguished surgeons, Dr. Malhotra became proficient in the surgical management of the most complex cardiac and thoracic conditions.

Dr. Malhotra has interest in all aspects of cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery. He is extremely dedicated to his patients and wants to provide them with innovative/cutting edge options in his specialty.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Malhotra, enjoys spending time with his family and is passionate about sports.
